Carol Bowden – Chairman


Although Carol is not a native of New Hampshire, she has called it home for the past 42 yrs. She was raised in Cambridge Mass., attended Notre Dame Parochial school, both elementary and high school.  After graduation she attended Di’ Anthony’s School of Cosmetology, and has worked in that field since 1976.  She has owned and operated her own Salon and Spa for the last 16 yrs. in downtown Derry.  She is an active member in the Greater Derry, Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, and has many connections with business and professional women in the area.  Carol continues to attend seminars and workshops when available to educate herself to be the best she can be at whatever she undertakes.  Carol regularly attends Holy Cross Church in East Derry and has taken on several volunteer duties for them.  She is proud to claim that she has two amazing adult children and four grandchildren who are her pride and joy.


Toby Duys -Vice Chairman


Toby has extensive experience in the Telecommunications and Information Technology industry for over 35 years.  For the last 18 years Toby has worked in a managerial role and is currently the Director of Technical Operations for Amcom Software.


Franklin Soriano – Director


Franklin and his family moved from   the Bronx N.Y.  to Jamacia Plain, MA. in 1968.  He graduated from Brockton High and went on to Blaine Academy, where he earned a degree in Cosmetology.  He worked for Regis Salons, as an educator eventually becoming a manager for one of their Salon’s in Concord N.H.  He currently resides in Manchester N.H. and has been on the Board of the DFC for eight years.  He volunteers at the Center and plays an active role in the day-to-day operations.  His passion and dedication for the center’s success is evident to those who know him and he has been instrumental in the activities and fundraising events.


Jack Thompson -Treasurer


Jack graduated with his BA in 1965 and his MA in 1967 from Northeastern University.  Jack served in the United States Army service from 1968-1972 – much of which was oversees in Germany.  Upon completion of his service he then worked in the Building Material/Sales Industry for over 30 years – earning his MBA in 1978 from Southern New Hampshire University.   Upon retiring in 2007 Jack continued his service to others by volunteering his time in the community.  In his spare time he and his wife vacation in Aruba to get away from the cold New England winters.


Carrroll McCartin – Secretary


Carroll attended the University of Maryland, graduating with a BSN in nursing. She worked in several states during the years of traveling with her Air Force husband. On moving to New Hampshire, she worked at Parkland Medical Center in Derry until her retirement. An active Al-anon member, she has been involved in recovery for many years. She joined the Derry Friendship Center Board in 2013 because of a desire to give back and to honor the memory of her late husband, the former Derry Friendship Center Board Chairman. In retirement, Carroll has rediscovered her love of art and has enjoyed devoting some of her spare time to painting.


Steve  Donahue


Steve was raised in Wilmington,Ma and graduated High School there in 1967. He then went on to Gordon College in Wenham Ma and graduated with a BA degree in 1972. Steve spent the majority of his career with International Paper where he was a senior account executive servicing large dairy accounts in New England,New York City and Upstate New York. In retirement, Steve& his wife Jill reside in Chester NH in the summer and Ft. Lauderdale ,Fl in the winter.



Pat Meyer


Pat was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and has lived in the Derry/Londonderry area of New Hampshire since 1985.  She has a computer science degree from the University of Akron, and has worked in the IT profession for her entire career.  Her experience includes computer engineering, messaging and communication technologies, health care interface technologies, IT team management, and most recently program management in IT at a Boston based hospital.  She enjoys volunteer work, dabbling in art,  and various  outdoor activities including biking, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, gardening, and recently completed her first half marathon at Walt Disney World.


Bob Sag


A graduate of Queens College, a division the  City University  of New York. Upon graduation he  went on to a 40+ year career in the shoe business. During that time he served in many capacities ranging from retail, wholesale and importing, holding positions in management, sales, marketing, advertising and public relations, customer service, credits and collections. Upon retirement he enrolled in a CASAC- Training program and then interned at the Lexington Center for Recovery in the Haverstraw Facility. There he worked with recovering Alcohol and Substance Abuse clients, running groups and working with individual clients.


Nancy Sag, MSW, LCSW


Nancy Sag had worked for 30 years in Rockland County, NY, as part of the Department of Mental Health.  She was a clinician to a population that included the seriously and persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI), co-occurring disorders (mental illness and substance abuse) as well as people in recovery. She was Director of Case Management Services, Supervisor in a clinic as well as group coordinator.  Upon retirement she worked part time in Lexington Center for Recovery in Suffern, NY.  She worked part time in retirement with single moms looking to return to work in a Program called Next Steps in Pomona, NY. She was a member of numerous committees including Drug Court, Committee to set up Drop in Center in Rockland County, Committee to help set-up a Court for those that suffered from Mental Illness.  She also presented at many conferences and workshops.



Jennifer M Rattigan


Jennifer Rattigan born and Raised in Wakefield Mass. Graduate from Wakefield high school class 1990. Went on to Middlesex Community College with associates in business and criminal justice.  She worked as Nursing assistant after high school graduated from nursing school in 1995 . Worked as Geriatric psychiatric nurse at Boston Regional Medical center until moving to Derry in 2003.  She is currently working as visiting nurse. She is active member of community in recovery . She been volunteering for various fund-raisers at DFC .  Her passion is to raise awareness and remove stigma of mental illness and substance abuse since her husbands passing in 2008. She is the mother to her stepdaughter and her son. She also has cat and dog she adores .  Her Long term goals are to work on educating youth in dangers of substance abuse. Train for 5 k runs for awareness of mental illness and ADHD which her children suffer from. In her free time she also enjoys spending time with her grandchildren fine arts also seeing  the ballet and musicals.



Lawrence R. Major Sr. “Larry”


Larry was born and raised in Minot, Maine. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Navy, and, served aboard ship as a radio operator. Following his four years of military duty, he returned to Maine married, and started a family, while working in retail sales for several years. Promotions brought him to NH.  Later changing career path he worked in home repair, and remodeling.  Following this he moved to electronics, where he progressed through materials management from material handler to inventory control, to purchasing. Following retirement he continued to work as a sales representative for retail merchandise in the trade show industry.

Larry, and his wife owned, managed, and maintained investment property, including one in Derry, NH for many years. (This was how Larry first got acquainted with the DFC.)

Over the years Larry was involved in many volunteer positions, serving his community, both public and private.  Trustee of Trust Funds, Town of Pelham, NH, Little league, Knights of Columbus, NH Brain Injury Association, and others.
